Across the MENA region, NGOs and bootcamps are investing in youth, equipping them with in-demand tech skills to tackle the region’s staggering unemployment rates.
However, despite the training, many job seekers still struggle to get hired.
Because technical skills alone aren’t enough.
What’s missing after the training ends
We’ve supported over 400 job seekers, and one challenge keeps surfacing: graduates are prepared to do the job, but not to get the job.
That gap shows up in different ways:
- Not knowing how to find the right opportunities that match their skills
- Struggling to build relevant networks or connect with global employers
- Sending applications with no response
- Feeling isolated and uncertain in the job search
How NGOs and bootcamps can bridge the gap
To help job seekers move from training to employment, it’s not just about what they know; it’s about what they do next. Here’s how you can build on your existing programs:
- Offer structured job-hunting support: A self-paced course with clear guidance can give job seekers the tools and confidence to take action.
- Integrate AI-powered tools: Use technology like personalized job trackers, smart resume builders, or Chrome extensions that help job seekers identify the right roles, tailor their applications, and stay focused throughout their search. These tools give structure and momentum to their efforts, especially when motivation drops.
- Create spaces for connection and accountability: Peer groups, mentors, and coaching keep job seekers motivated, supported, and on track as they navigate the search.
What we built
To help job seekers take the final step from training to employment, we launched the Job Hunting Program, a structured, scalable solution focused entirely on helping job seekers go from training to employment. The program builds on five years of experience supporting job seekers across the MENA region.
It includes:
- One-on-one career coaching sessions
- A self-paced course with a job-hunting certification
- An AI-powered Chrome extension that helps job seekers tailor their job search strategy
- A mentor and peer network for support and accountability
Unlocking true impact
NGOs and bootcamps have the power to move the needle on youth unemployment, not just by training talent, but by supporting their path to employment.
At TAP, we believe that when young people are equipped with the right skills and the right support, they don’t just find jobs, they build careers, change communities, and shape the future.
